GPMS Green-Waves - Greening the Future, One Tree at a Time

In accordance with Pillar 3 (GPMS Green-Waves) of our Corporate Social Responsibility Framework, and in collaboration with the Aburi Botanical Gardens, GPMS participated in a Cinnamon Tree-Planting exercise on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

Rationale for Choosing Cinnamon:
Cinnamon trees (with botanical name, Cinnamomum verum) are valued both economically, as a primary source of a widely used spice, and medicinally, with traditional uses spanning centuries. Additionally, cinnamon trees contribute to environmental health by attracting beneficial insects and wildlife, thus supporting ecosystem diversity.

The management of the Aburi Gardens recommended this species for planting, as cinnamon trees are currently not fully represented within their gardens. Thus, GPMS planted 20 Cinnamon trees that day.
Delegates who were selected from each department to represent the Company at this event, were educated on the history of the Aburi Botanical Gardens, the importance of the Cinnamon tree and plants in general. The Curator & Horticulturist of the garden, Mr Forson, led his team of gardeners to help the GPMS Team with the planting exercise.
